His Excellency the Minister of communications and IT, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Post Dr. Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Al-Swayel inaugurated GCC Stamps Exhibition, in the presence of Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Muhammad Saleh Benten and Governor of Communications and Information Technology Commission, Dr. Abdulaziz Salem Al-Rwais on Sunday evening in the 31st GCC Posts Chiefs and Undersecretaries Meeting which lasts five days from May 15 to 19 in Jeddah.
His Excellency accompanied by Acting President of Saudi post Dr. Usamah bin Muhammed Saleh Ultaf and the participant Gulf delegation toured the Exhibition where notable collections, publications, historical documents and currencies and philatelic as well as major events in which the GCC posts issued commemorative stamps for those occasions. Dr. Al-Suwaiyel praised what he saw in the exhibition of rare, ancient and modern models which narrate the past and present of Saudi stamps which covered different domains and activities.
Saudi Post Corporation and Gulf Posts are keen to issue several stamps in religious and national events, meetings and conferences, national and cultural, artistic and sports, besides introducing national achievements in all domains
During this exhibition, the Saudi Post launched a contest involving more than 50 GCC philatelists to share their experiences in various domains, including historical, traditional and objective presentations, in addition to youth and single platform presentations. The contest is under the supervision of the Inter-Asian Philatelic Federation (FIAP).
The GCC Stamp Exhibition is held annually, alternating between the members of the GCC States, on the sidelines of meetings of Posts Chiefs and Undersecretaries, and is hosted this year by Jeddah Governorate.
